Why should I use a puppy shampoo and conditioner on my puppy?

We must remember that puppies are our pet ‘babies’ and therefore we should only use the most gentle products available on their young sensitive skin (and avoid products with harsh chemical ingredients). The PAW Naturally Gentle Puppy Shampoo is specifically designed to be an effective gentle cleanser of the coat and it is compatible to even the most delicate skin. It uses an optimal blend of natural plant cleansers combined with the essence of chamomile, known to be nurturing to young skin.
A puppy coat conditioner should be selected on a similar basis, to nourish and support a rapidly growing puppies coat + skin. The protein rich PAW Nurturing Puppy Coat Conditioner uses highly quality ingredients such as Australian macadamia nut & jojoba to strengthen the coat, a rapeseed extract for tangle free grooming to result in silky soft coat that is lustrous, clean and smelling naturally pure.

Why should I use a dog shampoo & conditioner rather than human products on my dog?

Dogs have different skin and hair to people, requiring different products to protect and enhance them. Most human products are too acidic for your dog’s skin. Using a shampoo, conditioner or soap product formulated for humans may result in the natural oils being stripped from the skin leaving it prone to becoming itchy and sensitive and the coat dry and dull. Using a specially formulated dog shampoo and conditioner such as those from Pure Animal Wellbeing (PAW) will help enrich your dog’s skin and coat. They are specially formulated to complement the pH of your dog’s skin.

Why are Pure Animal Wellbeing coat + skin care products different?

Pure Animal Wellbeing offers a range of shampoos and conditioners that work differently to other products. While most products on the market will clean your dog’s hair, they will also strip the hair of its natural oils. This is the result of the ingredients and the product formulation. These shampoos often contain sulphates and ethoxylated cleaning agents (detergents), which are associated with causing dry, itchy, red and irritated skin. Even so-called ‘natural’ shampoos including oatmeal shampoos and ‘soap free’ products may contain these irritating ingredients and have an abrasive effect on your dog’s skin and coat.

All Pure Animal Wellbeing shampoos & conditioners contain gentle yet effective cleansers so your dog will have a wonderfully cleansed, shiny coat without causing irritation to the skin.

The Pure Animal Wellbeing range is free from sulphates, parabens, toxic preservatives, ethoxylates and artificial fragrances making them the ultimate coat and skin care products for your dog.

What caused my dog to react to its old dog shampoo and conditioner?

Two of the major causes of skin reactions to topical shampoos are harsh surfactant ingredients (cleaning agents) and artificial (synthetic) fragrances. They can result in skin irritation, drying, dandruff, itchiness and even hair loss.

Sulphates are the most commonly used surfactant (cleaning agent) in human and animal products as they are effective cleansers and very low cost. However they are also strong irritants. The two primary sulphate surfactants used in most products are Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and its ethoxylated equivalent Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate (SLES). Both cleansers are made by “sulphating” palm oil. Pure Animal Wellbeing recommends avoiding products containing SLS and SLES because of the irritancy and the presence of “objectionable trace impurities”. SLS has also been shown to cause the skin to become more sensitive to other ingredients and irritants.

Artificial (synthetic) fragrances are another major cause of irritation to the skin. Pure Animal Wellbeing only uses 100% Botanical fragrances (certified organic where possible) and essential oils to provide skin friendly, natural fresh scents pleasing to dogs and humans alike.

My Vet recommended that I should give my dog Osteosupport for its arthritis. How does it work?

Osteosupport contains Perna128, a concentrated form of freshly harvested Green Lipped Mussel Powder, which provides concentrate omega oils, anti-oxidants and Glycosaminoglycans (GAG’s) that work in synergy to block the inflammation cascades & provide effective long term pain relief for your pet.

Why is Osteosupport different to other Green Lipped Mussel (GLM) Powders?

PAW Osteosupport is different to other GLM powders as PAW uses a proprietary manufacturing technology that causes minimal heat & processing damage to the active ingredients. The result is a richer GLM Powder (Perna128 powder) providing maximal levels of active nutrients including omega oils, anti-oxidants and glycosaminoglycans (especially Chondroitin) to provide better pain relief for your dog.

Why is Osteosupport in a capsule?

Osteosupport is encapsulated for two major reasons:

  • So you have a daily dose already measured making it easy for you to give to your dog. Most dogs take this capsule as a ‘treat’ as they love the fresh mussel flavor or you can easily open the capsule and sprinkle it over their dinner and watch them lick it up
  • It helps to maintain freshness of the Perna128 GLM powder

When should I use Osteosupport on my dog? Should I also give my dog Osteocare?

Osteosupport should be used in all dogs that are either suffering from or are predisposed to active Osteoarthritis. Osteosupport will help  by providing relief from joint pain and inflammation and provide a long term treatment solution for your pet.

As a synergistic ‘Treat’ , all caring pet owners can help to further supplement their pets diet with Osteocare® Joint Care Biscuits. Osteocare provides the option of choosing a great tasting, healthy treat that will also provide your dog with nutrients beneficial to their joints. Osteocare is formulated with high levels of processed cartilage. This cartilage provides a variety of joint care nutrients including collagen type II. These nutrients can be easily digested and readily used to maintain joint health.

Can I give my cat Osteosupport?

While Osteosupport is not registered for use in cats, your local Veterinarian may prescribe Osteosupport to your cat. Osteosupport will provide your cat with the same great nutrients providing similar nutritional benefits for cats as they do for dogs. Osteosupport will help to maintain your cat’s joint health and provide key nutrients required to maintain a health coat + skin. Plus cats love the taste!

Why should I feed PAW Probiotic Powder to my dog when it’s prescribed antibiotics?

The purpose of antibiotics treatment is to kill bacteria that cause infections. However, antibiotics do not discriminate between bad bacteria and good bacteria, effectively killing all susceptible bacteria. As a result, the delicate balance of the digestive system is disturbed and the absence of good bacteria can result in poor digestion, diarrhoea, bloat and flatulence. PAW Probiotic Powder restores and maintains a healthy balance in the digestive tract by providing viable good bacteria to the gut for pets being treated with antibiotics.

How long should I feed my dog PAW Probiotic Powder after using antibiotics?

For animals prescribed antibiotics, it is recommended that owners use the PAW Probiotic Powder for at least 4-6 weeks post antibiotic treatment. This is because it has been clinically proven to take several weeks to months post-antibiotics for your dog’s digestive system to re-balance.

Should I feed PAW Probiotic Powder to my puppy?

It has been clinically proven that puppies have a healthier growth rate in their first 6 months of life when their diet is supplemented with Probiotics. This is to help the puppy to establish a good intestinal microflora, help digestion and improve their utilization of food. Therefore you should use PAW Probiotic Powder daily to help establish the good bacteria in your puppy’s digestive tract to ensure optimum health & growth.

Can I give ½ the recommended dose rate and will it be effective?

It is important to correctly dose the PAW Probiotic Powder to optimize the effect of providing the beneficial good bacteria and nutrients to your dog.

Can PAW Probiotic Powder be used in cats?

Whilst the product is only registered for use in dogs, your local Veterinarian may prescribe PAW Probiotic Powder to your cat as there is known to be beneficial effects for Probiotic when used in cats. A study by the American Journal of Veterinary Research, studied the use of Lactobacillus acidophilus in 15 healthy adult cats. They found it can alter the concentration of gastrointestinal microflora in healthy cats.
